Is Laser Hair Removal right for you? If so, when is a good time to start?

Is Laser Hair Removal right for you? If so, when is a good time to start?

Over the past 20 years lasers have certainly changed the way we live and go about our daily lives. It seems lasers can do everything from vision correction to military weaponry and everything in between. Lasers have come a long way since its inception in 1960 by American Engineer Theodore Maiman.  Who would have thought that lasers would be the foundation of so many different types of medical procedures and they continue to reinvent the way laser light is used. Amazing!
Austin Laser Hair Removal is by no means a new type of treatment type in the laser industry. It was first performed experimentally for about twenty years before Laser Hair Removal became FDA approved and commercially available in the mid-1990s. Although there are many different types of lasers brands and manufacturers they all have one common interest. Laser Light is used to target the hair follicle which resides in the dermis layer of the skin. Of course there is also Electrolysis and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments that can effective remove hair, Laser Hair Removal is by far the most popular treatment for hair removal today.

There are many types of lasers on the market however a large percentage of Dr. Offices, Medical Spas and Dermatology Centers rely on the cutting edge technology of the Candela GentleYag and the GentleLase. These two lasers can effectively and painlessly eliminate unwanted hair permanently. The GentleYag uses a neodymium-doped crystal to generate laser energy that effectively penetrates the skin at 1064 nanometers.  This longer wavelength, coupled with a short 3-millisecond pulse allows an effective treatment to even the smallest hair diameters. The laser also uses a unique a Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) spray to cool the skin prior to each laser pulse. The exclusive cooling technology protects the skin and provides comfort while the laser energy penetrates the skin to reach the hair follicle.

The GentleLase works similar to the GentleYag however it utilizes a 755 nanometer Alexandrite crystal to penetrate deep into the dermis layer of the skin. Like the GentleYag, it also utilizes the Dynamic Cooling to cool the skin prior to the treatment pulse of the laser. This makes for a fast, painless and effective treatment for your clients. In addition to comfort, having these two laser hair removal machines on hand enables you to effectively treat all skin types based on the Fitzpatrick Skin Chart.

So when is a good time to start Laser Hair Removal Treatments?
Well, great question. There is never a bad to start Laser Hair Removal treatments however there are a few things you need to know and consider before you decide you want to be on the path to “hair free”. For one, hair grows in stages. This means that multiple treatments will be necessary for you to target each of your individual hair follicles. To go into this a bit deeper, hair grows a staggered pattern referred to as the Anagen, Catagen and Telogen phases. In short, while some hairs are growing, some are falling out, or in the process of falling out. This process changes every two to four months which is why multiple treatments are required, generally 6-9 treatments will permanently reduce unwanted hair although the treatment time between treatments is also a critical part of the elimination process. It is suggested that treatments are approximately 30 days apart however this depends on the area being treated.  Following the link here to view a complete list of treatment pre-care guidelines or the laser hair removal aftercare page to learn more.

Lipo Laser Treatments in Austin Texas

There’s a certain feeling that comes with this time of year for all of us. For many it’s pondering on what to get for our families, friends and significant others. For many it’s the dreaded Holiday rush to take advantage of the best deals or to simply attempt to knock out the Christmas list as early as possible but for most, it’s also a time for indulgence. It seems there is a party or gathering most every weekend for 2 consecutive months and unfortunately with the turkey and dressing, Christmas cheer and the New Year toasts generally come’s weight gain.

In fact, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention more than one-third (34.9% or 78.6 million) of U.S. adults are obese. I’ve always considered the word “obese” to be a particularly harsh word for being overweight and feel the numbers that place you into this category are very unforgiving but that’s a different subject all together. What’s great news is that with today’s technology and the use of laser light there is a solution for shedding these unwanted pounds.

The LAPEX BCS Pro was designed specifically to target unwanted body fat so you can quickly and effectively lose inches in a relaxing 20 minute sessions, The LAPEX BCS Pro provides inch loss, but without the surgery, the pain, or the extensive recovery time and risks associated with surgery. By directly targeting subcutaneous adipose cells (or fat cells) The LAPEX BCS Pro offers a safe and effective spot fat reduction solution that can be applied to multiple problem areas.
At Amore Laser of Austin we are proud to be offering this FDA Approved laser treatment to our local clients. The use of this laser machine allows us to perform very effective noninvasive treatments to stubborn areas of fat that may not respond sufficiently to diet and exercise alone. During your Lipolaser treatment at Amore Laser the Lapex BCS emits low levels of laser energy disrupting the fat cell membranes within difficult fat areas, such as the abdomen, hips, buttocks and thighs. When the cell membrane is disrupted, the cell releases internal cell fat into your body, which your body is then able to process and get rid of in a safe, effective manner. In essence, the cells inside your body lose their weight because the round shape of the cell is changed when the laser permeates the cell membrane. Your body is able to flush out the excess fat and water from the cells.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal right for you?

Is Laser Tattoo Removal right for you?

Nowadays it seems there are tattoo shops springing up at every street corner in Austin Texas. At every turn neon glow in shapes of hearts to cleavers are hung in hopes to lure potential clients. Many leave with a permanent brands and it's love at first site! Those freshly inked Austinites rush home to their family, friends and co-workers to show off their new ink attire. Others don't share this enthusiasm.

Luckily there is a solution for unwanted skin graffiti or that ex's name that has worn out it's welcome. Thanks to Laser Light Technology of the 1064nm and 532nm wavelength laser systems. These wavelengths target the area of the skin where the ink reside and as the laser light hits the ink it implodes and displaces the tattoo ink into another area of the dermis.

Once the tattoo ink is displaced, our bodies natural filter begins to remove the ink from our bodies. With each treatment, more ink will be displaced and the tattoo begins to fade and lighten until it is eventually gone.

Typically laser tattoo removal takes anywhere from 6 to 10 treatments however there are certain variables we take into consideration during your consult. A few include the type of ink used on the tattoo, the age of the tattoo and the also the ink color. Generally green and reds are the hardest colors to remove but we have achieved success with all ink colors.
